  • Why enroll in a homeschool or independent study program?
Traditional schools aren't for everyone. For some families it's a matter a safety and emotional well-being. For other students, it's about creating a flexible online learning program centered on a passion or pursuit of excellence that can't be supported by traditional schools or class schedules. Homeschool and Independent Study Programs are ideal for a student who works at their own pace, while having the flexibility in their schedule.
  • Can a student make up credits if they are off pace to graduate?
Yes! B.E.S.T. Academy's credit recovery program enables students to take the classes they need to catch up and graduate on time.
  • When does a student have class?
B.E.S.T. Academy's independent study program empowers students to determine the best for their situation - when, where, and how long is spent completing coursework and assignments. Students are expected to complete work on regularly scheduled school days and teachers meet with students virtually to provide academic coaching support and additionally schedule tutoring and support on days and times that work best for students and families.
  • What types of students enroll in BEST Academy?
BEST Academy students are as diverse as the world they live in. Typically, students fall into the following categories listed below. Acceleration - to increase the pace of school and "Get Ahead" with more challenging curriculum options. Credit Recovery - to repeat coursework or finish coursework for credits students may need to complete for graduation. Enrichment - access additional classes and extend learning beyond the traditional scope of state standards. College Pathway students - take online or community college credits that can be counted toward college graduation. Career Pathway students - earn certifications in medical, technology, and business industries to prepare for a rewarding and challenging, fast-paced future of high-demand careers.
  • Do students need a computer at home?
In order to access online curriculum and learning platforms, students need access to a desktop computer or laptop. B.E.S.T. Academy provides laptops to students who do not have access to a computer. It is recommended students have access to internet connection at home, and becasue students have 24/7 access to online learning platforms, students can access internet at public locations with wifi access.
